New Room

As of February 10th, Emily and Addison are officially moved into their new big girl bedroom. This is so bittersweet for me. It's been so fun to watch them dance and twirl in their new room, which is bigger and has more space to play, dance and twirl. At the same time, it is a huge reminder of how much they've grown in the last two years, and how they aren't little tiny babies anymore.

When we found out we'd be having another baby, we decided we'd keep the nursery as a nursery, since it's the smaller of the two extra bedrooms upstairs. The plan was to move the girls into the existing guest  room and keep the nursery about the same if the new baby were a girl, and re-paint if it were a boy.

That transformation finally happened this weekend, and tonight my two little ones are sleeping in a new room, and I'm not sleeping so well at all! I keep thinking of this post, when the girls officially moved from one crib to two, and looking back at how small they were makes this all the more bittersweet.

Emily found an old orange "baby passi" (her words) under the guest bed when Chris was taking it apart. It quickly became a favorite object. PS both girls have passis in their mouths here. While the dancing and helping was exciting for both of them, it was also a little confusing, especially for Addie, who does not like change at all. Emily saw her passis (usually just for naps and night time these days) on the dresser and just had to have them. She was kind enough to share one with her sister, who usually isn't interested in passis at all, but seems to enjoy pretending when the passis come out during waking hours.

While they've gotten a bit more bold with the vacuum cleaner, it still needs to be viewed from a respectable distance

I told the girls I wanted to take their picture in their old rocking chair, but we were standing in the new room and Emily thought it would be just great to pose against the wall under their new window. Addie complied.

 After getting the beds put together and having some lunch, it was time for a nap. Emily slept in the new room and Addie slept in the pack-n-play in the "old room." We haven't had them nap in the same room for as long as I can remember because they sleep so much lighter when they're napping. Plus, Emily usually talks to herself for awhile before falling asleep and Addison crashes right out for a nap. Then Addie's back up and ready to go within an hour and a half tops, and Emily could nap for up to three hours. So we've always had Emily sleep in her crib, and Addie's slept in the pack-n-play in the guest room. I'm not sure how the napping arrangements will be made when the nursery is occupied by new baby.

PS The pillows are also a fairly new phenomenon. Emily asked for a pillow last week before nap, and ever since has slept with it and Addie made the request a couple days later after seeing the snuggling possibilities. (Although Addie is a stomach sleeper and doesn't often stay on the pillow for long).
