Addie n Eh

Addie is so attached to Elizabeth. If I put Elizabeth down, Addie will usually come running over to sit next to/lay next to/play with/try to hold her baby sister. While Emily's nickname for Elizabeth is "Lizzybiz", Addie calls her "Eh", which you'll hear her say in the video if you listen closely. :)

Homecoming

Elizabeth got three days of one-on-one time with Mom and Dad in the hospital. We had many precious moments together.

On Monday, March 18th, it was time to bring Elizabeth home. She got all dressed up in her going home outfit before getting loaded up into her carseat.

Three car seats!

Welcome home Elizabeth! (The TP was a gift from CeeCee, it's been tons of fun!)

Addie was so excited to wake up from nap and find her baby sister had come home

Big Sisters

Two days after she was born, Emily and Addison donned their big sister shirts and came to visit Elizabeth. I was in the hospital room holding Elizabeth and I could hear through the open door as Chris parked the stroller out in the hallway. I was so excited to see my little girls and to introduce them to their baby sister!

I heard Chris talking to Addie and Emily about being gentle and quiet, and then, very quietly and with eyes full of curiosity, they came into the room!

Emily and Addison had brought gifts for their little sister, and were happy to see that she also had gifts waiting for them.

Proud big sisters

I am so proud of how our big girls have adjusted to having a new baby in the house. They are very helpful and very loving, and they are being so flexible with such a big change!

A Baby's Heartbeat

A friend loaned me her fetal heartbeat monitor and lately we've been bringing it out for some big sister entertainment. It's so fun to watch the girls faces when they listen to their baby sister.

January Favorites

Mealtime Shenanigans

Addie had finished eating and was all cleaned up when she decided to start sneaking food off Emily's tray
This is Emily's "I just tooted!" face

Our Current Favorite Book: Knuffle Bunny

Addie often opens to this page, where Trixie is "helping" her daddy with laundry and just laughs and laughs

Kitchen Play

A new play kitchen and lots of play food and dishes brings lots of fun kitchen play to our days. Here the girls are pretending to pour water on their arms.
Emily is making a "shhhhhh" water pouring sound here
The pizza is Addie's favorite play food. You know she loves you if she serves you a slice!

Addie and Emily moved up to Big Girl Car Seats in January!

A Chilly Saturday Morning

After breakfast one Saturday, the girls begged and begged to go "side?"
Dad doesn't mind the cold, and went out with Emily to explore the yard in the morning chill
While Addie was initially very excited to take her baby for a walk outside, she quickly discovered it was pretty cold and began doubting her decision
Meanwhile, Emily was skipping merrily through the yard
Aaaand, she's ready to go back in

A Day with The Greats

Great Grandma reads to the girls during a visit to Windsor Gardens

Love For Baby Sister

We've been spending a lot of evening time cuddling on the couch these days, and this particular evening, Emily kept patting baby sister

Baby

Today the girls were being so cute with Baby Sister, I just had to upload these pictures out of order.
Wendy, I hope these can satisfy your need for a belly shot! ;)
Addie often lifts my shirt to get a peek at Baby. This most often happens around a mealtime, when she is in her highchair right at belly level. Today we were cleaning up after lunch and Addison requested some baby time.

Kissing Baby

Hugging Baby

Meanwhile, Emily was entertaining herself playing peekaboo with a dishcloth Addison had given her to clean up her tray.

Then Addison asked for the washcloth back from Emily so that she could clean up Baby.

Addie gave Emily a new washcloth, which made both girls quite happy and excited. Emily then requested some Baby time for herself.

Soon after checking in with her baby sister, Emily's washcloth became a baby. Here she is holding on protectively to her new little bundle.

"Baby"

And when Emily got down from her highchair, she needed to get baby a passi.

You know, I think this was definitely a string of Kairos moments for  me. Moments I desperately needed. I've been feeling pretty anxious about our upcoming arrival. I know she's going to be a great joy, but it's also hard to imagine doing the work of twins plus a newborn. But the girls seem to be showing me that they are ready to be big helpers when Little Sister arrives.  Thank You Lord!
