September Elizabeth

Well hello there! 

I started doing lots of new things in September, wanna see? 

Dad put me in the deck hole. Haha! I'm in a hole!

I started doing that cute thing babies do where they lay on their back and grab their toes.
Mom tried to get pictures, but I just wanted to be on my tummy!

 

Alright, I did lay on my back a bit, too, but I wasn't in the mood to grab my feet.

But then a few days later she caught me in my crib!

Aren't I a precious sleeping angel?

Daddy let me stand all by myself by the coffee table. I was SO excited!

I learned to sit all by myself. I like the view from this position!

I got to try my first solid food.
Mom made me sweet potatoes, and she and Dad fed me for the first time on my six-month birthday.

I really like to hold onto the spoon all by myself.

 

After those potatoes, I needed a bath. I've got a pretty cute baby bum, don't you think?

Mom gets to see this face every night before bed. Isn't she lucky?

I mean, really, I'm just pretty cute.

I love feeling the grass on my toes. And check it out, one of the first signs of fall...

I got to taste puffs for the first time. I have a pretty good pincer grasp going on here.

Elizabeth Sits Up!

Elizabeth has been practicing sitting for quite some time. Back in August, when she was not even quite 5 months old, Chris decided to put her in sitting position and see how long she could stay in the position all on her own. She surprised us both by sitting long enough for a series of pictures before slowly slumping to the side.

 A month later, I was feeling confident enough in her solo sitting skills to leave her siting with Boppy support.

 On September 14th, one day before turning 6 months old, Elizabeth became a true independent sitter. Ever since then, she's been sitting very confidently on a variety of surfaces.

 

Basket Girls

Last month we had a professional photographer come to the house to take pictures on the 22nd. Before then, I was trying to come up with cute props and poses to use and found out that this big basket worked wonderfully for Emily our sitter and Addison our stander. We did a practice shoot, which I'm very happy about since the girls didn't want to smile nearly as wide for Jermaine when he came to take pictures of them with the basket.

Sitting Up

I discovered that Emily had learned to sit up from a laying position when I came in to get her after a nap at the beginning of last month.

She was quite proud of herself, and lost her passi to a big smile when I congratulated her.

Hats!

The girls got new matching hats, and even though noses were still a little runny and eyes were still a little red from our lingering colds, we decided to take the show outside for a little photo shoot.

Big Girls Sitting Up

Two days after Emily started sitting, Addison showed us that she was ready to sit on her own too! Here they are on September 4th, a Sunday morning, sitting in their pjs with bear and monkey.

Addison started lunging for toys a couple weeks ago, but in the last few days, she's really started scooting!!




Emily has been sitting with very little support for about a month, and recently has been going up to 30-60 seconds sitting on her own. Yesterday, something clicked, and she is now a true sitter!!
