Let's Take Dad to the Zoo!

On a nice sunny Saturday in November, we decided it was high time Chris came along for a trip to the zoo. What a wonderful day it was. Going to the zoo is always a treat, but it's extra extra special when Dad can come. Emily's favorite animal is the flamingo. Her obsession started when she got a giant stuffed flamingo at a fall garage sale. Now whenever we visit the zoo, the flamingos are a must see. In November, they had been moved to their indoor habitat, so we got to watch them squirm (were they feeling claustrophobic or were we just projecting onto them?) in their small winter home. The best parts for me, though, were watching the girls smiles on the carrousel ride and feeding the Lorikeets.

Cotton Candy...a must at the zoo!

Addison was wearing her Elsa hat complete with long blonde braid. We had SO MANY people ask if it was her real hair!

Emily LOVED feeding the Lorikeets!

Elizabeth was very brave and did it too!

There are some drums for kids to play by the Great Apes exhibit, so we ended our zoo day with some drumming and dancing. What fun!

Rock Creek with Dad

We visited the Rock Creek pumpkin patch for a second time with Chris. He took a Friday morning off from work and we got some fun Dad time before the big girls needed to head to school. What a special day!

These goats had eaten holes into their hay pile It just cracked me up.

Yay Daddy Day!

Painting Pumpkins

While the girls and I were at Rock Creek, I let them each pick out a couple tiny pumpkins and/or gourds.  We picked out a couple for Chris, too, and a few days later, we had a family pumpkin painting party.

It was all fun and games until Elizabeth started painting her hands and face. Ha!

The Paltepuff Girls

Chris has been dreaming of this day for years. Back in 2010, he nicknamed Emily and Addison (in utero) after two of the Powerpuff Girls. Click here to revisit that little window in history. Then two years later, he posted this on Facebook:

Blossom

The trio will be complete. Before Emily and Addison were born, we (well, maybe me) happened to nickname the first two girls (Buttercup and Bubbles) after the Power Puff Girls cartoon. Now Blossom is on her way...

and he included these pictures:

This Halloween, it was decided that it would be the year of the Powerpuff Girls. I sewed up some dresses and got MaryJanes for the kids, made a bow for Elizabeth and crossed my fingers she'd keep it on. We had a photoshoot in the backyard to commemorate the whole thing.
