September Elizabeth

Well hello there!

I started doing lots of new things in September, wanna see?

Dad put me in the deck hole. Haha! I'm in a hole!

I started doing that cute thing babies do where they lay on their back and grab their toes.
Mom tried to get pictures, but I just wanted to be on my tummy!

Alright, I did lay on my back a bit, too, but I wasn't in the mood to grab my feet.

But then a few days later she caught me in my crib!

Aren't I a precious sleeping angel?

Daddy let me stand all by myself by the coffee table. I was SO excited!

I learned to sit all by myself. I like the view from this position!

I got to try my first solid food.
Mom made me sweet potatoes, and she and Dad fed me for the first time on my six-month birthday.

I really like to hold onto the spoon all by myself.

After those potatoes, I needed a bath. I've got a pretty cute baby bum, don't you think?

Mom gets to see this face every night before bed. Isn't she lucky?

I mean, really, I'm just pretty cute.

I love feeling the grass on my toes. And check it out, one of the first signs of fall...

I got to taste puffs for the first time. I have a pretty good pincer grasp going on here.

 Mmmmmm, Mum Mums

And I'll leave you with some of my giggles...

A Blast From the Past

I was uploading videos to YouTube today, and decided to take a little trip down memory lane. I ended up spending quite a bit of time looking at old videos. I found this little gem from exactly two years ago. On November 6, 2011 Emily and Addison were just over 8 months old. Elizabeth will be 8 months old next week. Wow.

A Month of Sister Love - September

Addie reads to Elizabeth.

And then gives her some snuggles.

Addie gives Elizabeth some tea.

And then come the hugs.

Shortly after switching to toddler beds, Emily started climbing into bed with Addie. This continued for a few nights, until Addie started waking up very groggy and complaining that she wasn't sleeping well because "Emmy in bed." So we had to set some groundrules about when it's okay to climb in your sister's bed.

But oh the preciousness!

Addie was very excited to have Elizabeth come cuddle in her bed after nap one day...

Addie still requests to "hote" Elizabeth often.

Emily offers to share her Popsicle with little sis.

Morning play time.

It's a Sister Train!

Awww, this one still melts my heart. Big sisters cuddling on the couch.

Elizabeth started eating puffs, and Emily was all about being the big sister helper!

Three Lovey Dovey Girls...We are so blessed!

Good Morning!

Elizabeth never fails to greet me with a smile when waking up in the morning or after a nap. Recently, we've been battling colds here in the Palte house. Elizabeth has really been struggling with all the congestion, but even with a face smeared with boogers, she still wakes up with a smile.

Here's a picture of a cheery morning smile back in September. Doesn't it warm your heart?

Elizabeth Swings!

After converting the cribs to big girl beds, we headed off to one of our favorite neighborhood parks, the "Blue Park" where Elizabeth got to try out the swing for the first time!

Big Girl Beds!

When September rolled around, Addie had been escaping from her crib for a few months, but we hadn't been ready to turn the cribs into toddler beds. Then Emily began climbing out, too, and we figured it was time.

Emily and Addison were SO excited to have big girl beds. They kept hugging Chris and yelling "Dak Ooo Daddy!"

A Special Day with Great Grandma

DeeDee brought Great Grandma over for a visit in September. We danced, we played, everyone got a sticker on her nose, and wherever there are four generations having fun together, there is magic!

Emily's in Undies!

At the end of August, Emily decided she was ready for undies. We went through about 7 pair that first day, but then within about a week, she was accident free and has had very few accidents since then. Yay Emily!

Two big girls!

I Love You Baby

She won't be small enough to hold like this for long, gotta cherish the moments we have!

Camping, 2013 Part Deux

Getting Ready for Bed... We debated whether we should break our family up between two tents, or all smoosh together into our 3-4 man tent this year. We chose that later, and it went very well. Next year, though, we're thinking that with growing girls, we'll need a bigger tent.

When Emily and Addison went on their first camping trip, they slept in a super insulated pack-n-play. That wasn't really an option for Elizabeth this year, so we bundled her up nice and cozy.

We put Emily and Addison to bed in the tent and went to sit by the fire with Doug and Kirstin and Elizabeth. We heard lots of giggling coming from the tent, and we kept seeing little blond heads poke out of the tent door. We assumed Emily and Addison were just doing a little spying, but we went to check on them after hearing a sleepy Addison yell, "Emmie dirt!" We found the entire tent floor and all the sleeping bags were covered with dirt! She'd been scooping dirt from outside and sprinkling it all over the tent! Emily's mission of turning the tent into a giant sandbox hadto come to an end when her sister just couldn't take it anymore and wanted to go to sleep! We emptied and cleaned the tent as best we could by flashlight, and laid the girls back down, and they were asleep within ten minutes.

Elizabeth got to cuddle between me and Emily.

Good Morning!

The morning started out with a little camping breakfast, a tiny morning fire (it was pretty chilly!), and some hammock time for Elizabeth.

Then it was off for another little hike.

There were lots of lean-tos and teepees along the trail, and we explored inside a lot of them. This one had an elaborate shelving system inside and there were different sized sticks on each of the shelves. Some creative outdoor play had been going on here for sure.

What a great camping trip. Kenosha Pass was a hit, I'm sure we'll be back!
