Bunny Big Ears

For Easter, Emily and Addison got giant chocolate bunnies. On a sunny day in April, Chris decided it was time to break out the bunnies...and the kiddy pool!

The girls got on their swimsuits and we headed outside for some milk chocolate flavored fun.

Elizabeth watched from the deck as her sisters got their big treats.

Addie was beside herself with excitement.

In awe of this chocolate masterpiece.
Emily was also very excited to receive her bunny, but rather than carry it around admiring it as Addie had, she began devouring it right away.

Yum!
Addie spent quite a bit of time carrying her bunny friend around before deciding she was ready to eat him.

And after the first bite, she decided he was pretty delicious.

Emily's excitement grew and grew with each bite.

After Chris filled the kiddy pool, the girls congregated around it, dipping pieces of chocolate in the water and then eating it (because everything tastes better dipped, as all two year olds know!)

Serious Pride
Something I can love on and eat!!!
Want some?
I think I love you.

Hey! It's hollow!

After Chris added two bucketfulls of hot water to warm up the pool, the girls dove in!

Elizabeth asks, "Do I get one of those next year?"

Grandpa Hicks' Banana Bread

Grandma Hicks gave me a cookbook when I went to college, and at one point I called my Grandpa Hicks to get his banana bread recipe because it's the best banana bread out there.

Emily and Addie have been showing a lot of interest in helping in the kitchen lately, so one slow afternoon in April, we decided to get out Grandpa's recipe and make a loaf of banana bread.

Licking a beater was always my favorite part of helping Mom bake
Elizabeth participated too, taking breaks from her catnap to peek at the action
Eating a snack while we waited for the bread to bake, Emily struck this pose all on her own.
Addie decided to copy when she saw how much I loved the pose.

When the bread came out of the oven, it was almost as sweet as these faces.

Hello and Happy Tuesday!

Baby Dolls

Addie has been sharing her toys very graciously with Elizabeth. One day, she decided Elizabeth wanted to play with baby dolls.

Great Sakes Alive! He's 35!!

Happy Birthday Chris!! The girls made very special cards for Dad for his birthday...

We hung the cards on the inside garage door so he would see them when he came home from work. When we heard the outside garage door open, two sqealing girls went running to the door to welcome the Birthday Boy. Addie got the door open and began "jumping" (she still doesn't quite leave the ground) up and down yelling "card!!!"

Chris got his birthday dessert request...raspberry pie. This year it was extra special because it was made entirely out of raspberries we picked from our garden last summer.

Ending the day with a little Elizabeth snuggle...

One Month Old

Elizabeth turned one month old on April 15th.Even though we had newborns just over two years ago,we'd already forgotten how fast they change and grow.

Of course, Elizabeth needed a one month photo shoot, just like her sisters had

We started out with all three sisters on the couch.

Then Chris decided to show off Colorado's wacky weather by taking the shoot out in the snow. (It really has been a strangely snowy spring. As I write this on May 1st, I'm looking out the window at 5 inches of snow with more falling!)

Then it was back inside for more pictures. I decided our month photos will all take place on the rocking chair with Elizabeth's giraffe so we can get some perspective as we watch her grow.
