In the last month, Emily has really started getting into playing peek-a-boo. She thinks it's so funny when we act like we don't know where she is.

Precious Girls
January 18th, just another day, but the girls were looking so precious after waking from their naps, I just had to take some pictures. Addie woke up about half-hour earlier than Emily, she typically doesn't nap as long as her sister, so she and I spent some time on the big bed in Mom and Dad's room.

She saw herself in the mirror and waved
Hello world!
Can you see my sleep lines? I was napping hard!

Snuggles
Addie has started giving hugs. On January 3rd, we were playing in the living room and Addison took a break from drumming to climb into my lap, climb up my chest, put her arms around my neck for a squeeze, and then she climbed back down and went back to play.
When she's tired, she gives great snuggles, always on my left shoulder (probably because it gives her easy access to her right thumb). It is so special to share these snuggles with her!
Emily is a deep sleeper, and when she wakes up from her naps, she usually has deep sleep lines on her face from sleeping so hard. It takes her a little time to wake up after a nap, and snuggling always helps ease the transition back into the waking world.

Emily Headbangs
I guess we have a little rocker on our hands. Chris captured this video of Emily headbanging to the Smashing Pumpkins last month. He later discovered that she would headbang on cue to this particular song each time he played it. Recently, though, her tastes have become a bit more refined ;) as she has discontinued her Smashing Pumpkins headbanging and taken up rocking out to Vampire Weekend with Mom.
*While I stand firmly in my belief that I have better taste in music than Chris, I will admit he has better video taping skills.

The Best Push Toy EVER!
We have a couple friends who have the best push toy ever, a Radio Flyer Classic Walker Wagon. While it really truly is the best push toy ever invented, we did not purchase one after seeing the price tag. Instead we got a cheap used Fisher Price scooter that converts to a walker (the scooter part is OK, the walker part slips out from under any poor unsuspecting toddler, causing more tears than giggles), and then we bought a cheap used walker with wheels, which did provide several (nonconsecutive) hours of fun for Addie, but has become a bit too confining for her tastes. On a recent trip to the Sebrings', their Radio Flyer was resurrected from the basement for Emily and Addison to play with. After seeing the smiles and giggles the wonderful toy brought to the girls, the Sebrings insisted we borrow it.
Since Emily isn't very interested in walking yet, but Addison wants to walk everywhere, it has been truly the perfect toy since Addie can push and Emily can get a ride!

Mirror Fun
We have a large mirror that has been living in our basement for a couple years after it was replaced by a fancy Pier One mirror in one of our bathrooms. The mirror made its way upstairs for the eight month photo shoot when we had a professional come to take pictures.
The mirror then went back down to the basement, until it came up for some fun last month. We have a couple of small mirrors in the toy box, and they are among our favorite toys. Emily is especially entertained by her reflection these days. One morning, she was really getting a kick out of finding me in the reflection of her little mirror, so I decided to see how she would react to the big mirror. Both Emily and Addison were amazed to see themselves and so much else reflected, and we played for a little while but then I put the mirror away to wait for Daddy to come home so he could join in on the fun. DeeDee happened to come over that evening as well, so we all had a grand time playing music and watching the mirror.

Cuter Than the Average Bear
Uncle Mark and Aunt Laurie took a trip to Mesa Verde last year and brought the girls these sweet little onesies. I would agree, they are cuter than the average bear! :)
Here we are! Two cuties!
Emily is in the middle of a long lecture right now. She's telling Addison all about why Cheerios taste best served on the floor.

We Love Tupperware!
While we were in Michigan, Emily learned how to open kitchen cupboard doors. This is a skill she quickly taught her sister when we got back home. Now most of the cupboard doors are semi-baby-proofed with rubber bands around the handles, but the tupperware cupboard is always accessible, which means most days end with lots of lids and plastic containers scattered around the kitchen floor.

Hair Clips!!!
With growing girls comes growing hair...especially Addison's! Last month, we decided to wear hair clips to go to the store, and we got lots of compliments on their cuteness!
Bye Bye Sally Cat!
Sue and Larry have a cat named Sally who adopted them a couple years ago when she had a litter of kittens under their patio steps. She usually isn't an indoor cat, but before we headed back to Colorado, she was allowed inside to say hello and goodbye to Emily and Addison.
A Very Special Spruce
This Colorado Blue Spruce tree was in a pot at our wedding in 2006. It traveled to Michigan and was planted in Sue and Larry's yard, where it has grown wonderfully!

Sledding in Michigan
Usually when we go to Michigan around Christmas, there is tons of snow and the lake is frozen. This year, the snow stayed in Colorado for the most part. We had a little skiff of snow before we needed to head back home, so we decided to take the girls out sledding.
