Protective Big Sis

We like to sit out on the front porch to watch the rain and listen to the thunder during summer storms. Elizabeth came out to join us for one, and Addie was there to comfort her when the lightning flashed and the thunder rumbled.

You're Invited to a Princess Tea Party

Back in August, my friend Chrystina and her daughter, Maisie, hosted a beautifully wonderful Princess Tea Party. The invitation went out to the mom's group I joined at the hospital when Emily and Addison were first born. This has been such a great group to be apart of because all of our kids were born within a few months of each other, so they have all gone through the stages of development together, and us moms have been able to lean on each other for advice, support, and encouragement through it all.

For some reason, the majority of kids in our group are girls, so this princess tea party was just perfect and it brought lots of giggles from both moms and little gals. Our mom's group has been meeting on a weekly basis since these little girls were newborn babies, and it has been pretty amazing to watch them all grow, learn, and play together for two and a half years.

Within the last six months or so, there has been a baby boom in the group, so Elizabeth will have plenty of "second round" kiddos to play with in the group. I feel so blessed to have found this group of women to go through motherhood with!

Emily and Addie each picked a dress from the dress up box to wear to tea
While enjoying delicious pink lemonade "tea," the girls got to decorate crowns
Maisie, Ellie, Addie, Emily, Lyndi, Nora, and Lilly
Crowns finished, Lyndi and Emily chow down
Addie finds a stroller to push around
The babies get together for a picture (Katelyn, Elizabeth, Teagan, and Miles) Lilly's little brother, Casey, just did not want to have his picture taken. Being the oldest of this "second round" of kiddos, he kept rolling away.
The sixth little one is Evie here. She's a cutie patootie with some awesome hair.
Macie (between Addie and Emily) was feeling a bit shy for the big group picture, but had warmed up a bit for this one

Happy Elizabeth at the end of her very first tea party!
The girls got to bring home favor bags that had all sorts of fun princess accessories in them. We came home, took off our princess shoes, and played with our new toys. What a fun day!

5 Months Old!

Now that, in real time, Elizabeth has passed her 7 month birthday, I will be posting her 5 month pictures. It's a busy life being a mom of three!

When Elizabeth turned 5 months old, she was just beginning to roll from her back to her tummy, she was sleeping without a swaddle, and she was able to suck her thumb whenever she needed to. She was beginning to giggle and could sit up with help.

The five month photo shoot took place in the backyard after everyone had gotten up from afternoon nap.

I love you Elizabeth Grace!

Dale, Rose, and Elmo

The Rice's came over for some playtime and crafting in August. I'd given Wendy a sneak peek of the Elmo craft we'd be working on (when I'd asked the girls a few days before what they wanted to make, they both replied, "ELMO!" - he's one of our favorite people these days) and Dale came over very appropriately dressed in an Elmo shirt!

Let's start out with a little kitchen play!
Rose offers Elizabeth something delicious

What do you want to eat, Aunt Abbey?
Table's set! Rose makes sure Elizabeth gets some too.

Let's make Elmos!
Nice work everyone!

A Bit of August

Hello Blue Eyes
Sweet girl in soft afternoon light
Hey Mom, I went potty and I'm ready to go!
Alright, all the girls really are ready to go now!
A snake came to visit our garden, and Emily and Addie got closer to this little guy than our 8 year old neighbor boy would. He was very impressed by their bravery.
Hi Mr. Snake!
Mom. It's a snake. It's by our toys.
Nissssssss to meet you.
This is so cool.
This little monkey love swinging in the nectarine tree
The snake's gone, mom!
We're off to the neighborhood playground in our superhero capes!
Our neighbor friends Trace and Berlin ran up to join us! Big kids are SO cool!

Super Emily and Super Addie, flying high to the next adventure!

Rice Play

Back in August, we had some great backyard play with the Rices. Dale got to play farmer and harvest some tomatoes, and all the kids were treated to doughnuts from Aunt Wendy. Emily accepted her treat with a "Thank you DeeDee!" I wonder who the usual doughnut giver is? ;) And everyone got to go on several backyard flights courtesy of Air Wendy.

Wendy got some awesome pictures this day. If you want to see more, click here.

Elizabeth

Welcome to a post all about Elizabeth, with several firsts!

In August, Elizabeth began taking her baths in the big tub. The baby tub is back down in the basement.
Elizabeth has become a true thumb sucker. She sucks her thumb before falling asleep and off and on throughout the day. She seems to prefer her left thumb, and lately seems to enjoy stroking her hair with her right hand while thumb sucking. Chris says he was a lefty thumb sucker too, so she must have gotten this from Daddy.
We got out the box of six month clothes, and Elizabeth got to try on a super cute pair of shoes. She's a lucky girl to get twice the hand-me-downs and has quite the wardrobe.
The exersaucer has become a great source of entertainment in our house. It's a nice space for Elizabeth. She can play, practice standing, and have a little bubble room to keep her safe from her sisters' enthusiastic loving.
